Strangulation Training 2025

April 2025

Strangulation training: The District Attorney’s Office, the Cobb County Family Justice Center, LiveSafe Resources, the Cobb Domestic Violence Task Force, and Acworth PD hosted a Strangulation Training. As one of the most dangerous forms of violence, strangulation requires a skilled and informed response. This training provided essential knowledge and practical skills to help identify, intervene, and prevent these life-threatening situations.​

District Attorney Unveils New Family Justice Center

The Art of Collaboration – Paint Love Day

March 2025

The Cobb County Family Justice Center, in collaboration with Marsy’s Law and Paint Love, hosted a vibrant community paint day. Volunteers from the Cobb County community, KSU Day of Service, partners of the Cobb Family Justice Center, and staff from the District Attorney’s Office came together to create a powerful mural inside the Center. This monumental artwork now offers an inspiring and empowering message to every client who walks through our doors.

Avant Garde Awards

In celebration of Black History Month, District Attorney Sonya Allen hosted the inaugural Avant Garde Black History Month Awards Ceremony. Community members, partners, and staff of the District Attorney’s Office came together to honor legacies and celebrate those making a difference.

Coffee Cart 

February 2025 
 

The Cobb Family Justice Center were the Coffee Cart winners for the Center For Family Resources Thanks For Giving food drive after bringing in over 3,500 food items for families in need. Thank you to Center for Family Resources and Unorthodox Coffee for hosting our Coffee and Conversations for our staff and partners. This event allowed our staff and partners to enjoy networking and GREAT coffee made by the baristas.

Human Trafficking Proclamation

January 2025 
 

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and strengthen efforts to combat human trafficking in our communities. In recognition of this critical issue, Commissioner Richardson sponsored a proclamation officially recognizing January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month. ​

To show support for this important initiative, agencies dedicated to supporting survivors, handling human trafficking cases, and promoting prevention and awareness efforts were invited to attend the proclamation ceremony on January 28th. 

District Attorney Sonya F. Allen Cobb Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Swearing-In Ceremony and Loyalty Oath

​District Attorney Sonya F. Allen presided over the swearing-in ceremony for the new Assistant District Attorneys in the Cobb Judicial Circuit. The event was a momentous occasion, as the newly sworn-in ADAs took an oath of loyalty to uphold justice and serve the community with integrity.

 

DA Allen expressed her confidence in their ability to support the mission of the office and contribute to the fair administration of the law. The ceremony emphasized the importance of teamwork and dedication in the pursuit of justice for all.

Thanks for Giving Drive

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who assisted the Cobb FAC with our recent contribution to the Center for Family Resources' Thanks for Giving Food Drive. Your generosity and support made this initiative a tremendous success, directly benefiting families in our community.

We are thrilled to share that, thanks to your efforts, the FAC was named the winner of the food drive collection, donating over 3,500 food items! To celebrate this achievement, we invite our partners to join us for a special treat: enjoy the Coffee Cart from CFR on February 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Cobb's third annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, the International Men's March to stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence.

Cobb Family Advocacy Center Grand Opening Ceremony

The Cobb Family Advocacy Center and the Cobb County District Attorney, Mr. Flynn Broady Jr. was thrilled to share the tremendous success of the grand opening of the Cobb FAC, an event that marked a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence, child/elder abuse, sexual assaults, human trafficking, and stalking in creating a safer community for all.
 
The atmosphere was charged with positivity and hope as community members, local leaders, advocates, and supporters came together to witness the inauguration of a dedicated space that will serve as a refuge for those affected by domestic and family violence. The event not only symbolized the culmination of years of hard work but also highlighted the collective strength and unity of our community in addressing this critical issue.

As we reflect on the success of the grand opening, we express our deepest gratitude to everyone who played a part in making this initiative a reality. Together, we have created a beacon of hope for those affected by domestic violence, and our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive community remains unwavering.
 
We invite you to stay engaged with our ongoing efforts to combat domestic violence, elder/child abuse, sexual assaults, human trafficking, and stalking and join us in creating a future where everyone can live free from fear.

Cobb Family Advocacy Center 的创建得益于与
